Two People Killed In Violent Night In Newark: Prosecutors

Two different shootings killed two people in Newark on Wednesday, Oct. 18, authorities said.

At 7:27 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Dayton Street in Newark and found Rahim Wynn, a 41-year-old Newark resident, suffering from gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead, several hours later. Stephens and Fragé said.

At 10:04 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 700 block of South Orange Avenue and found Kevin Brown, a 61-year-old Newark resident, suffering from a gunshot wound, Stephens and Fragé said. He was transported to University Hospital and pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Fragé said.

Both investigations are active and ongoing and no arrests have been made, Stephens and Fragé said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-847-7432.
